Laser Tag Guns

Arguably the primary piece of equipment in any laser tag game, the importance of laser tag guns cannot be overstated. In a way, laser tag guns, along with the infrared sensors attached to the vests etc, define the game of laser tag – without them, there is no laser tag. In fact, the game of laser tag is inspired by the form of combat simulation exercise that was first dome by the US army to train soldiers for battle conditions. In these simulations, rather than use a real gun, the soldiers were trained with hat were in effect laser tag guns. From their military applications, to their use as a piece of equipment used in the game of laser tag played among friends and family, laser tag guns have come a long way.

Design of the Laser Tag Guns

Just like your normal guns, laser tag guns have a barrel, a grip, a trigger used to fire the laser or infrared burst, and cross hairs for targeting. As electronic equipments, laser tag guns run on batteries, which should be recharged fully before you use them. Laser tag guns are of a slightly larger size than your common handguns, but they do not weigh too much because they are built out of plastics etc, and are designed for ease of use, and keeping the hand ergonomics in mind. Most all laser tag guns have LCD screens now, and these screens are used to communicate, and to keep you informed of the in-game statistics, including your score and kills.

Laser tag guns need to be held with both hands if you want to use them in the game. Every gun has a touch sensor at the bottom of the barrel, which you need to hold by the hand that is free. So basically, your one hand will be on the grip, with its index finger on the trigger, and the other hand will hold the gun from the bottom of the barrel.

Many laser tag guns are designed to look like futuristic weapons – and this is appropriate enough. The first laser tag guns were launched in 1979 inspired from the gun fights of sci-fi shows and movies. Movies like Terminator have influenced not just the design of the laser tag guns but also the game play, with many arenas of laser tag designed based on the theme of these sci-fi movies.

Advanced Laser Tag Guns

Advanced laser tag gun features include the feature of recoil – where the game play is made more realistic by physical recoil made by the gun whenever it is fired. Some guns have the option of manual reload, where you have to restock ammunition every time the virtual magazine of the laser tag gun gets emptied. Guns also come with a rumble feature, which lets you know when you get hit by enemy action.

When playing outdoors, you can go for advanced range laser tag guns, also known as laser tag rifles. These shoot up to a longer distance, and some also come with sight attachments that let you shoot with more accuracy.
