Laser Tag Party

Laser tag was invented in 1979 after the release of the Star Wars. The game instantly caught the imagination of the nation and of the world, and its popularity has never receded. Though the basic premise of the game is akin to the kids game of hide and seek, or cops and robbers, teams that try to outdo each other in an open area with obstacles, it is as unlike to them as is the Nascar to the ancient Roman chariot racing. The game requires sophisticated equipment that was made possible only in the latter half of the 20th century.

Laser Tag Party

With the right equipment or by going to a laser tag arena if you do not want to buy your equipment, a laser party game can have great entertainment value for just about any group – be it kids, adults, family or a group of friends. The game requires skill and strategy, stealth and surprise, and is a great mix of the virtual video games and a real combat soldier. The game can be played as a single player or as part of teams. Whichever way you choose, a laser tag party can be one of the most memorable parties you can attend or throw. Here we talk about the various aspects of the game of laser tag and how to organize a great laser tag party.

Laser Tag the Game

Laser tag requires a team or player to shoot or tag an opposing player or team using a gun that emits an infrared beam. This beam is detected by infrared sensors, which then helps us know when a kill or tagging has taken place. This way, players shoot or target each other, expel opponents from the game, and strive to remove all opponents.

The game can have variations – for example, each player can have multiple lives. Such games will be different from a game in which each player is allowed only one life. Then there are team games, and games which have defined objectives. An example of the latter is the Capture the Flag game.

When you organize a laser tag party, it is important to decide which type of game you want to play. This will be decided by various factors such as the total number of players, the time you want to spend playing and whether you want a team game or an individual game.

At Home or Arena

The choice is up to you. The factors are whether there are a lot of players, the distance of the local arena from your place etc. Note that you can also rent only the equipment, so organizing a laser tag party at home is not as costly as it may sound.

Once you have decided the game, or the version of the game, you are playing, make sure that every one in the laser tag party knows the rule of the game well. If your laser tag party is being organized at home, you can even print out the rules of the game and display them at a prominent place too. This gets us to the next point, whether to organize your laser tag party at home or at an arena.
